Introducing a special-edition variation of our 110-year-old iconic jacket. Our Hooded Mackinaw Wool Cruiser is fully lined with cotton Alaskan Guide flannel for added warmth and comfort. The attached hood separates with a center zipper so it lies flat across the back when not in use. When zipped and worn over the head or a cap, it provides the warmth and weather protection that only 100% Mackinaw Wool can. Two high-set hand pockets have been added to the classic Cruiser pocket configuration for use while seated. They’re lined with our warm cotton flannel, as are the lower hand pockets. The four front cargo pockets and full-width rear pocket put two layers of wool over the majority of the torso, right where it's most needed for warmth.

Originally patented in 1914, the Cruiser Jacket was engineered for timber cruisers surveying ahead of logging crews. The pass-through rear pocket was where they stowed maps and survey charts, and is just as useful for bulky items such as watch caps and gloves. The Cruiser was designed for lumbermen, became a favorite of traditional hunters, and saw widespread use by the U.S. Forest Service. It remains a dependable all-weather jacket for anyone who enjoys being outdoors.

Our Mackinaw Wool is made with an uncommonly tight weave that blocks wind while remaining highly breathable. This construction also provides the durability to last for generations. Our wool naturally wicks moisture to the tip of each fiber, enabling it to insulate even when wet. This is why wool has been the fabric of choice for versatile weather protection for centuries.
